Quick Notes: Former Eagles Make Moves

In the course of blogging about a sports program, there will be things that happen that I think are noteworthy, but don’t warrant a full post. I will still want to note them, er, quickly, in a “Quick Notes” post such as this. This will be the case until I come up with a better name.

  • Allie Bassetti, who was mentioned as a coaching candidate for the Eagles on this very blog, has moved on from Manhattan Jaspers. While she would have likely have been in the running to be a part of Coach Coll’s inaugural staff, Bassetti has jumped to Columbia instead of AU.
  • Stacy Beckton, Jr., is playing in the ACE League Orlando Pro-Am. Through four games, he has scored 40 points on 45.24% eFG% (a little lower than he shot last season) with a turnover rate of 14.03/100 possessions (about 15-20% better than last season). His FT rate (FTs per FGAs) is 4.76, but it’s unclear if this is because Stacy is operating solely as a jump shooter or if they just don’t call fouls in this league. They occasionally have highlights on their instagram story, in case you miss seeing Stacey can threes.
  • SOC graduate Jamie Erdahl (who played basketball at St. Olaf before transferring to AU to focus on broadcasting and communications) has been named host of Good Morning Football on the NFL Network. I am personally not familiar with the program, but Jamie was excited about it.
  • The athletic department published their 2021-2022 annual report. I will be one of the dozens of people who read this and will post anything interesting. I’ll give anyone a nickel if they’ll read it and summarize it for me.
