When starting a new project, I find it useful to set an intention. This particular project has been in the back of my mind for some time, and has thus been morphing and changing for months. So I’ll take this opportunity to set it straight.

This blog, at its humble beginning, is mostly a tool to allow me to better follow the American University basketball teams, and bring an analytical eye to a level of basketball that often lacks it. If all goes well, I would like to expand my scope and cover AU’s other varsity sports. Maybe some club sports too (looking at you, rugby and ultimate frisbee).

For now, though, the focus will be getting to know the men’s and women’s basketball teams and players in the Patriot League, tracking their progress, and seeing if data can help project likely results with any accuracy.
