The Demon Deacons officially announced the inclusion of Nikki Flores and Emily Stallings on Coach Gebbia’s inaugural staff, finalizing the landing spot for the rest of Megan Gebbia’s AU coaching staff.
The tea leaves were pointing heavily in this direction for a while, as Coach Stallings has listed Wake Forest in her twitter bio since pretty much right after Gebbia’s move was announced and Coach Flores has been liking almost every WF WBB post.
You could expect that keeping most of the staff together will contribute to Gebbia’s continued success, and it will be easy for AU fans to keep Wake as a #2 team to root for.
This might make it a bit harder for Coach Coll to fill out her staff. Had Flores stuck around (which maybe wasn’t ever much of a possibility), she would have been an obvious choice to keep working with guards and stay on top of recruitment. Now Coll needs to hire three assistants. As she has plenty of experience working with post players, we should expect that her staff will specialize in guards and wings. If Coll is also able to find someone with experience as recruitment coordinator, that would be an extra boon.
We should expect that team to come together by the end of the month.
